I just didn’t understand the romance in this book. Within a chapter, Peyton goes from fearing the MMC to being confident he’s a great partner for her. Their beginning as a couple was too fraught for this to really make sense.
Also, why TF wouldn’t they have a second in command take over when a commander is out of commission? That driving force behind a rushed mating was illogical.
The story as a whole had some potential; with biases and tied hands and tragedy.
