Beastly by Alex Flinn

4.0

A young maiden risks her life to save her father from a terrifying beast. She doesn’t know what will happen to her, but the love for her father pushes her to take his place in the home of the beast. Beauty learns to love the beast, as he does for her. The beauty inside of the beast shows through when Beauty learns to look past the fangs and fur of the beast which had terrified her at first sight. She sees the man inside which he has grown to become. Everyone knows the story of Beauty and the Beast, but they don’t know about Kyle. Kyle Kingsbury who used to have everything, until one night, something changes, a spell is chanted, changing everything Kyle had ever known.
I am addicted to retellings of Beauty and the Beast. This one is no exception. I am a fan of Alex Flinn's retellings in all. He knows how to take the concepts from classic tales and bring them into modern day. He also does a good job bringing out the best in his characters while keeping them realistic. I say any of his fairy themed books are a good pick for anyone in the mood for a little magic.
