One Small Thing by Erin Watt
3.0

The premise of this book was very interesting... but it did remind me a little of a poorly executed You Against Me by Jenny Downham (a fantastic read btw) if I had to compare it to something. Everything which was supposed to be a surprise was obvious to me from the very start, so it's a predictable read too. If you're okay with that, I'd try it.

Beth was an okay character. Immature at times, she got on my nerves slightly. She also seemed quite boring too... And whiney now I think about it. She wasn't intolerable, however. Her parents were absolutely mental, exaggerated in their reaction to their daughters death maybe, and were just plain unreasonable so it was there where I connected with Beth.

Chase as a character could've been explored more, but because he wasn't came off as generic and meh... but he was a caring love interest so also tolerable. He was sweet and his surprise at being hit on at the beginning was endearing.

The ending and conflict was resolved in the last few pages very randomly and conveniently. And the way the conflict was resolved seemed like it was an afterthought and wasn't very imaginative.

Overall, it was an average read. Not Erin Watts best execution.
