personally i found the first of the books to be somewhat slow, which made me think quite badly of the book due to its big reputation. sprinkled throughout is some racism and unacceptable comments as such, making the character unlikeable in that sense. the experiences of the character are relatable and really describe well the thoughts of mental illness in my opinion. the story picks up in the later half and the roots set down to begin with make the rest of the book worth it even if it was slow to start.
Graphic: Suicide, Forced institutionalization, Sexual assault, Self harm, Mental illness, Medical trauma, Alcohol, and Suicidal thoughts
Moderate: Racial slurs and Racism
