Born of Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
3.0

So much hype for a book that was less than impressive...

I have been a big fan of J.A's books but I felt like she really backtracked to something completely different with this one.

With the first 28 chapters being basically just sex, it got real old, real fast. If not for my friend who read farther than me, I would have DNF'd this book. Sera couldn't even take a breath with Ash wanting to be inside her. Eats a strawberry, sex... Walks from the bed, sex... Wakes up nauseous, sex.... Like come on...

Don't even get me started on the fact that Sera was no longer a badass in this book. The stab first ask questions later kinda girl .. I get she was recovering from being kidnapped but damn... She can't even make a decision without thinking "well what would Nyktos say??" Like girl... You're the true primal of life... Pull up the big primal pants and make decisions.

Finally... I liked when things finally started to happen, but the way everything was written felt to YA. Like where did the regular good banter go? I read J.A's books to not get the YA banter, yet was bombarded with this book. Like it was so cringe THE WHOLE BOOK! And I get it, Nyktos loves seta but does he have to be hard every two seconds????????? Also waiting 53 chapters to finally realize shes pregnant... I knew from like 2 seconds into the book...

Idk the whole thing just felt really poorly done .. I just hope this doesn't carry over to the FBAA series or I will scream

Now positives:
I love the connection of this book to the main FBAA series. For instance sotoria being poppy. I love that and reading about all of that. However, we didn't get that much until slightly in chapter 28 with the prophecy and then the end of the book.
