Want to Know a Secret? by Freida McFadden

4.0

Frieda McFadden is such a talented mystery writer. I find that with every book I read of hers, I am anxiously awaiting a twist in the story. This one did not disappoint!

In the first 2/3’s of the story, April Masterson is the narrator. April is a YouTube baking sensation living in an upscale neighborhood with her husband and son. As the story unfolds, April is accused of escalating misdeeds, all of which she denies. As the reader weaves through her story, the question becomes who is doing this to April? BUT April has secrets that could destroy her.

The story suddenly changes narrators to the point of view of April’s neighbor and “best friend”, Julia. With the competing points of view I didn’t know what to think until the truth was spelled out. And even then I was reluctant to believe it. The twist at the end was an unexpected final jab in McFadden like fashion!
