I just read the Auction over 2 weeks ago so I was super excited to start this book. I just can’t help myself to compare the two. I know the author needed to change the world and characters for this book. But I’m glad that the story and plot stayed generally the same and the author actually added more to the plot! So that was really nice that I have something to look forward to for the next books.
 I also like how she uses flashbacks for the character building as well as for the world building. It gives the characters more depth especially Toven. 
I don’t like starting an incomplete series but I made an exception for this one since I already read the fanfic. Overall, I loved it and can’t wait to read the next books!
