Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire by Pippa Grant

4.5

Tripp Wilson, former Bro Code band member, dedicated father, and #1 Fireballs fan, has two main goals at the moment: to take care of his family and to become the new owner of the The Copper Valley Fireballs pro baseball team.

He’s always (overly) careful and controlled and heads to a club in NYC, planning to talk to the current owner of the Fireballs about selling the team. Instead he finds himself making out with a stranger he sees exiting the VIP area. He typically never just relaxes and lets go, but that night he does.

What’s the problem with that?

As events unfold after that night, Tripp discovers that the stranger is now the owner of the team he wants to buy. And she does not want to sell. And, well, it’s possible that he told her that he was his still-in-the-spotlight brother when they hooked up at the club. And she does not like being lied to.

And it looks like now they have to work together.

But she has her own set of secrets that she's been keeping.

At a glance:
- Mistaken identity
- Antagonists-to-lovers
- Single father (widower)
- Former member of a boy band
- Workplace romance
- Baseball backdrop
- Pippaverse crossover

Read it for
- The chemistry between Tripp and Lila
- How the leads take care of each other
- The email signature lines
- All the mishaps
- The ducks
- The mental health rep
- How dedicated of a father Tripp is
- The chosen/found family

Lila and Tripp are brought to life by Savannah Peachwood and Joe Arden. I enjoyed their narration, especially Peachwood's take on Lila’s chapters. Note: Tripp does have two young children, so when you pick this up, be prepared to hear these adults portray voices for the under 4 set. I feel like that’s a tough age group to portray well as an adult.
