Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines

3.0

Hmmm, what to say.... I did like this story overall but some elements were a little off-putting at times. Basically, in a world that only saw supernatural beings, i.e. the Others, out themselves following the tragic events of 9/11, certain prejudices still run high. Shiarra Waynest, the story's P.I. heroine, is not immune. Her particular prejudices seem to be borne mostly out of fear and an ignorance stemming from unfamiliarity so I think there is hope for her. I hope so anyway because I feel like I want to like her but I do cringe everytime she refers to an Other as a "thing" and an "it" in this book. I did enjoy some of the secondary characters who help her survive her first main foray into the world of the Others and there is enough here to make me curious about checking out the second book in this series.
