Ball & Chain by Abigail Roux
5.0
*Edit: first reread May 2021. Original review still stands; in this one and the last one I did feel like I was missing a couple things in the plot that were confusing to me or things I wanted to understand better, but it’s entertaining as a soap opera and that combined with the characters and their relationships makes me not mind any threads I might be missing.
Original review:
I’m crying UGH!! With the back half of the series, things are starting to connect and come to light that are blowing me away. New things happen in each book that give me goosebumps and are making me devour these books with the plot twists. The angst and anticipation of each book and the way the relationships only continue to get better and stronger is so fucking good. Each book has its own separate plot but slowly, bit by bit, little things are revealed that start to expose a larger plot threading through the whole series and what it’s been leading up to. Even though it’s not the best written series in the world it doesn’t matter because the characters are so strong and emotional! I’m so sad there’s only one more book after this, I don’t want this journey to end.
But this book did make me want to read the Sidewinder series (which I feel like I maybe should have read the first one before I read this one but it doesn’t bother me too much) so I have that to look forward to. I just don’t want to say goodbye to Ty and Zane.
