I'll be honest, this book is not what I expected. I had more likes than dislikes so I'll start off with the negative and work my way up. The only thing I wish this book did a little differently was the timeline in which the story was told, it seemed staggered which confused me a bit. I know these short stories are more like snapshots of different times in the characters lives, so is that asking for too much? Maybe, but since it followed the lives of Fiona and Jane my brain would have liked that a bit better. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable read- once I realized what the book actually was instead of what I expected. I always love seeing different cultures being portrayed through stories and this book definitely did that. Some parts were a bit rough to get through because of the experiences depicted but that's life so I appreciated the realistic storytelling. This one is certainly not your fluffy and lighthearted book but still worth the read if you enjoy the genre.
