Our Violent Ends
by Chloe Gong
When I tell you that rating this is so hard. I had it on a 5 stars, but I think it is more a 4.5 leaning to 4.
Overall I LOVED the book, and that alone should be a 5 stars, but I think some plotpoints were rather predictable and the beginning sort of went by for a little while without something really happening.
The will they, won't they is played out again, exessively to the point I literally was like "kill or kiss" because it was a little repetative, even though I understand that realisticallly this would happen but I think it did not help the pacing. However, I truly loved the whole last half of the book, and in a way the first part as well, but yeah (see me changing this rating to 5 because I change my mind lol)
What I enjoyed was the setting and the attention to detail (reading the authors note as well) to the riots in Shanghai and what was fictional and what true. Minus the monster part this truly feels like it could have happend.
ok I'm changing it to 5
When I say I knew Dimitri was behind this. I don*t know if the plot made it so dearm clear but I just knew he had something up his sleave, did I think THIS big ... no really but also yes, since in this book he played the standing back clan second a bit to well.
Rosalind though, also suspected something with her (Especially with her secret) did not think it would be Dimitri though, think I would have actually hoped it to be a no name White Flower because it just again a little to convenient, LOVE Kathleens reaction though. No mercy.
I love that Juliette & Roma got married (And his sister actually cheating it to be leagal true queen) and I was a little suprised by the ending but I mean that was the most clear when It called a Romeo & Juliette retelling.
I hope though that Ben and Marshall will have a happy life together because they went through some shit AND FINALLY TOLD EACH OTHER PROPERLY THAT THEY LOVED EACH OTHER.
