reflective slow-paced

There are a lot of passages that can be related to someones struggles of today and offer a simple yet powerful way to reflect on your actions, yet sometimes Epictetus feels like he goes beyond stoicism and breaches into complacency. He also at times criticizes emotions or people for having emotions under the guise of telling them to control it. There are other times where he simply feels like hes trying to one-up other greek philosophers in how much he doesn't care about things like his wife or children (?!?). Overall though it is worth reading to get a perspective into early stoicism and it does offer many great thoughts on how to change the way you think about tragedies/stress that may have fallen onto you
