Yikes!!

Look, man, I get it. I respect what the author did here.
The reminder that we all have a fascist inside us and that we must always stay vigilant lest we become the villain will always be timely and necessary.
It makes sense, it's quite human, it's an important message.

But I just hated reading this. This protagonist was so stupid, so incompetent. At least my question to "how did she manage to get this far professionally" was answered LMAO

I'll admit that there were some nice quotes in here, though. Had I made a couple of different choices in my life, this might have been a favorite. Alas!

With all that being said, some more quotes for the Hall of Shame:
- but she did a DVD-player motion with her mouth and chin that was probably a smile.
- I wanted to bite a train, or maybe fuck one. I wanted to beat myself bloody in the burial chamber of the pyramid of Giza.
- It weighed as much as a gun did, neither heavier nor lighter than what I was expecting. (Context: she is holding a gun, not for the first time.)
- He leaned forward and quickly pinched one of my nipples, hard, between the knuckles of his middle and forefinger. I made a noise like a slapped canary.
