Absolutely no nuance in this book's portrayal of a Palestinian immigrant, Muslim family. Nothing about the religion or culture is actually valued by the characters (the book addresses this for the first time on page 307 of 337); it's all about how women are oppressed and abused but apparently all they have to do is *choose* to get out.
