This was my first book by this author and honestly I didn't know what to expect. I went in blindly and got pleasantly surprised.

I was in need of a light read, which was more plot focused, but still had some dark elements to it. Let me tell you it did not disappoint.  The whole 'realizing that you accidentally joined a cult' plotline was unfolding like a train wreck you can't look away from.

Faith Gardner wrote page-turner that felt like bingeing a series. The addition of the documentary fragments also made you more invested in the story, though these could have been maybe a bit longer at times.
For example I was interested to know more about Simon's connection with Scarlett. How she felt during some events that happened before Winona joined, etc.  At times it was like, oh so here is Scarlett drinking tea and sitting on the couch again talking about what just happened with little to no new info.

Though the pacing was pretty good overall, I have to say at times it was a bit frustrating. Repeated actions or dragged out scenes of conflict, but they were scarce.

If I have to read about Winona convincing herself that everything is oki doki, while everything goes to hell, one more time I am gonna turn love to fear real quick
