Thieves' Gambit
by Kayvion Lewis
I feel surprisingly conflicted about this book and I think that’s because I had expectations. I wanted something a little Ocean’s Eleven, and a little like Allie Carter’s Heist Society series, and this was really neither. Firstly, the competition element of the plot eliminated any true teamwork, the heists and plans were never fully explained because of the competition aspect as well, because the character didn’t know all the whys neither did the readers. Also, I never really felt connected with any of the characters, even Ross the protagonist. She’s a thief from a family of thieves and she wants to get out and make friends instead of living this isolated thieving life.
I did enjoy parts of the book but I don’t know if I liked it enough to pick up the sequel.
