The Body Scout by Lincoln Michel
5.0

This is the first pure cyberpunk novel I’ve read since the genre hit the big time back in the 80s. Daniel Suarez’s novels [b:Daemon|6665847|Daemon (Daemon, #1)|Daniel Suarez|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348912643l/6665847._SY75_.jpg|4763873] and [b:Freedom™|8488830|Freedom™ (Daemon, #2)|Daniel Suarez|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1311704142l/8488830._SY75_.jpg|7394861] were solid entries, but even they weren’t as grim and gritty as this book.

And very grim it is. Plus gross, with plenty of body horror, and darkly cynical about people and institutions. I loved it.

Shout-out to the cover artist; the design takes on new meaning once you get to the end of the book.
