DNF’d at 50%. From what I’ve understood, you either love this book or you didn’t. I was the latter.
The MC was all over the place. She didn’t have a consistent personality, and it made it really difficult to get attached to her.
The writing was also all over the place. It felt like the book didn’t have a proper editor and because of that, I was constantly getting hung up on mistakes, repetitive phrases or words, descriptions, etc and it took me out of the story immediately.
We read this for my book club and I asked my friend to just tell me what happens, and I’m glad I DNF’d.
While the story is interesting, this book should have either been cut in half or split into three.
I like to think I’m a fast reader, but this was excruciating to get through.
Overall, I’m super disappointed. Almost every creator I follow on social media suggested this book as “phenomenal” and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Someone even compared it to Throne of Glass.
WHAT. NO. Also, “Darlin’” and “Mr. Meow”??
