I’ve been thinking a great deal about time and motion lately, about being a still point in the ceaseless rush.
Honestly, I waited too long after reading this one to write my thoughts down, and now I can’t remember any of the specifics I wanted to mention. What I do know is that I’m in awe of the way Emily St. John Mandel weaves characters and plot points together from book to book, and this one is no exception. It’s beautifully written, a skillful blending of literary language and several different genres. I reached the end and knew immediately that it would be a stand-out favorite of the year for me.
