Not exactly what I expected - I thought the two narratives would be intertwined (between past and present) rather than in two halves. I did like the first half but preferred the second half (ie present day/focused on Alma) although again, I think I expected more of an overlap with them as characters than it had.
I feel like I might have enjoyed it more if the second half was longer and was the main story, and the first half sprinkled throughout, but equally it might have detracted from Alma’s story to keep dipping out of it… so it is a very small critique
