An Unwavering Trust by L.L. Diamond

5.0

This is one of my new favorites for sure, for many many reasons. It starts off with a bit of an odd premise, and I can get where readers might be turned off by it. Darcy and Elizabeth end up married very very quickly, but it works. I was a bit worried that this might mean that the path for them is just a bit too smooth, but the author does a wonderful job of honoring the characters and the growth of their relationship, while also gives us a context to allow them to be together. And I love reading stories where we get to see them together. There are some changes to the characters that are hard to swallow (Mr. Gardiner, Mr. Darcy senior), but these go down well since they are balanced with one of my favorite to date versions of the Fitzwilliam clan (including the addition of a new Fitzwilliam who I am absolutely head over heels for).
I’m sure I’ll be revisiting this book many more times. It’s too good to only read once.
