Fungal horror will always slap because what isn't terrifying about spores and the lack of control of the spread of fungus? Nature itself is terrifying because of climate change and harming the environment that will lead to our eventual demise. So this book was a fun short read. The detail of the fungi is what made it so enjoyable and horrific, however the characters felt flat to me. Its like going in to watch any final destination movie, you go to watch them die, no emotional attachment to them.
