this was the craziest book I've read in a while! The fact that this was YA was even more crazy. This book is very twisted. It's gritty and in its own lane.
Nita lives in a world that is strange, and just about everyone is selling body parts of supernatural beings on the black market. She and her mother are also in this dark business. Until, one day, she has a change of heart when her mother brings in a person who is still alive. Then everything goes down hill from there.
Everyones morals and humanity are just about non-existent. Everyone just does what they want with no moral compass what so ever. Nita herself questions her own morals at times; she is no saint, but she views herself as better than others because she doesn't kill, just dissect already deceased victims. You can tell she knows everything about it is wrong, but she constantly backtracks herself. I found myself frustrated with Nita a lot. She is a very flawed character who doesn't have much character growth. But I believe that the author has done this on purpose? Maybe we'll see some changes in the next two books?
The book does get quite repetitive at times. The book fluctuates with its pace a lot. It kept feeling like nothing was happening. But when things were happening, it had me on the edge of my seat. The small twist in the plot was good. This is book one of the series, and it's let with a very twisted cliffhanger. I'm pretty excited to read book two. My library doesn't have it so I'm going to have to buy it ðŸ˜
