Well. After reading this version of the sea witches backstory, I'm even more on team Ursula than ever before. From the very beginning I raged at Vanessa's mistreatment for no good reason from her father Poseidon.
I did like the bits of mythology woven into the story.
I wished we had a few answers before it ended rather than assumptions. Like what did end up happening to the Queen? And what really became of Alastor. Who Sterling even was. But in the end, those questions didn't detract from the story at all.
I loved this version of Ursula/Vanessa. We empathize. She wasn't born a sea witch. She became one because of the cruel life she was handed.
Also...who was she talking to?
