Concrete Park, Vol. 1: You Send Me by Tony Puryear

4.0

One of the reasons I wanted to check this out was because it was co-written and co-created by Erika Alexander. Best known as an actress on the show Living Single.
A young troubled (to say the least) man from earth is exiled to a distant planet (Oasis) that is ruled by gangs. He is transported there with his nemesis. The guy that gunned down his little sister Rose in front of him
It has a very diverse cast of characters. The multiculturalism blends beautifully in the graphic novel the way it's supposed to.
There is also a badass brown queer central character.
It's a hectic read with a lot going on.
But, that's partly what makes it an interesting read.
