Strayed pretty far from my go-to genres with this one. I was looking for a weekend read and just went with it.
For what it is -pure vampiric spice- I enjoyed it.
The clichés and convenience of things mildly frustrated me and the slow filler of plot sprinkled between the spice didn't build towards the ending in a gratifying way.
I found the ending rushed and far too easily resolved. Especially after we spent the whole book reading about how difficult and dangerous the 'challenge' was going to be. Too many pivotal plot points were crammed in at the end like after thoughts in an attempt to wrap things up into a happy little disappointingly, spiceless ending.
IMO:The monster lore and magical history was more interesting to me than the FMC
