A princess and a dragon walk into a cave, make a deal, and cause some chaos. What more could you ask for from a book?
A unique Rapunzel fairytale retelling? Check, it’s got that. Chess references? Check (pun very much intended!) A feisty, sarcastic, and intelligent FMC? Umm, yes, it has it! Some clean and wholesome romantic tension? It’s definitely there! Ohh, a snarky talking dragon? Check, check, it's burning hot with that one!
This book was such a fun and quick read. I’m a huge fan of fairytale retellings, so whenever I come across a more unique version, I end up loving it! While Rapunzel is my girl (also one of my favorite Princesses) and is amazing…my favorite character is the dragon, Pollox. He’s fierce yet protective and surprisingly complex for a dragon. Rapunzel’s Gambit is 1 of 12 books in the “All That Glitters” author collaboration, which is readable in any order or as stand alones, which is such an fantastic concept. My heart was definitely glittering after this read!
Now, if I were to continue this review, I’d be making my own gambit, and I think it’s better if I leave that up to Rapunzel so I won’t dragon anymore (I know you appreciate the pun)!
