Dante Moretti has recently been named GM of the Chicago Rebels, a dream he's had ever since his hockey career was sidelined due to injury. However, Dante isn't like all of the rest of the GMs in the league. In fact, he's the first out executive in the league, and many people never wanted a man like him in this position. He's worked as hard as he could to get to this position, and he's determined to not let anything ruin his chances.

Enter Cade "Alamo" Burnett, the star defenseman of the Chicago Rebels. Unlike Dante, Cade keeps his sexuality hidden, worried about what the consequences might be if he went public with it. When Dante steps into the locker room for the first time, Cade knows it might be harder than he thought. He'll have to learn to keep his desires hidden if he doesn't want to be outed to the whole world.

Like I said, we're family. And, kid, you can't choose your family.

I am genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this one. I went into it with very low expectations, and it exceeded them above and beyond. I loved watching Cade and Dante mature separately as they navigate their whirlwind relationship. I had not read the first two books of the series, so I can't speak for the spoilers that could possibly be in this book, but it seemed like these can be read individually if you don't want to read them all. This is the first book by Kate Meader that I have read, but it certainly won't be my last.
