The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis
5.0

Thank you @jillshalvis & @avonbooks for my #gifted copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Okay, I’m obsessed. Like, truly-can’t-stop-thinking-about-it level obsessed. I don’t say this lightly because I’m a sucker for anything Jill Shalvis writes—but The Love Fix might just be her best yet. From the very first line (which had me actually laughing out loud), I knew this one was going to be something special.

This book is the perfect mix of heart and humor. The heartwarming, funny moments were perfectly balanced with deeper themes of family trauma, grief, and healing. Normally when there’s a strong romance and a complicated family plot, I tend to latch onto one more than the other... but not here. I was completely hooked from beginning to end.

Lexi and Heath are both carrying so much pain from their pasts—parents who failed them in the worst ways. And while this could’ve easily turned into trauma bonding, Shalvis does something really special: she gives us two characters who learn how to heal separately and together. Heath was such a great MMC - he was strong and steady when needed, but also let his walls down around Lexi. I loved his dynamic with his grandfather and his brother. He understood Lexi in a way no one else could and gave her the grace to work through her emotions how she needed to.

Lexi was such a stubbornly independent woman - born out of trauma and survival instincts - so watching her learn to let people in for the first time was beautiful. Her dynamic with her step-sister, Ashley, added so much heart to the plot. Ashley’s sunny, golden-retriever energy was the perfect juxtaposition to Lexi’s guarded strength. Her love for Lexi is almost smothering but also needed to help Lexi accept that people can love her. Their different experiences with their mom created such conflict but also forced them to deal with their grief over her passing. Their messy healing journey had me tearing up more than once.

I absolutely loved every character in this book and the storyline was top tier. I literally couldn’t recommend this book more if I tried. Forever a huge fan of Jill Shalvis!
