The Gift by Cecelia Ahern
3.0
Well sometimes I just want to relax and forget the world with some gentle, easy reading. This is always what draws me towards books like this. I can switch off and let my mind be wrapped up in a nice little world for a while. On this occasion I wanted something seasonal and saying as this was released in winter and had Christmassy themes I thought I'd give it a go. I must admit I enjoyed this much more than some of the authors other books. The idea behind it was reminiscent of those well known Christmas tales by Dickens and later a string of films with the same basic themes. The main message is about time, our time on earth is short and we should live it to the fullest with those we love.
This was another one that seriously made me cry which was a surprise as through the majority of the book I hated the lead character, as the author wanted I assume. Still I'm a sucker for character reform and the romantic notions that go with it. So overall another one for fans of the authors debut.
