Moderate: Suicidal thoughts, Suicide attempt, and Suicide
This book is a huge departure from the thrillers I usually read. I wasn’t sure it would be for me but I loved it.
There is a beautiful quality of language used which paint a very clear picture of the setting. The memories spoken about the Lisbon girls suicides are - bizarrely - lyrical and endearing. It sounds like it was written with love and care.
Be prepared to use a dictionary for a fair few words (I know many new words now!) but their choice is perfect.
As strangely disturbing topic to say a book is beautiful - but for me it was. I got lost in the lengthy descriptions and truly felt I was there experiencing the same feelings as the boys retelling the story.
Maybe a bit wordy and descriptive for some - very little actually happens, except the suicides, which are somewhat glossed over as the reason is more significant than the act.
