While I enjoyed the familiar Nabokovian humor and quirkiness, Pnin just didn't hit the sweet spot for me this time.
It's slightly hard to say why, because I enjoyed the descriptions of Pnin immensely, as well as the perfect little mystery that begins to crop up. But overall, I was left not particularly happy or sad that it was ending. I will always love how he writes, but this time I guess it was a matter of the content, Pnin aside. Each chapter was a glimpse into his existence which I loved, but since they feel almost random, the consistency of my enjoyment was as well. I gave myself some time to see how the story dwelled with me afterwords and it didn't linger very long.
I should also note that the three stars are in relation to the other books I have read and rated of his. For if this were my first I'm not as sure of how I'd feel.
