Power Hour: How to Focus on Your Goals and Create a Life You Love
by Adrienne Herbert
informative
inspiring
fast-paced
So I will admit that I am a self-confessed self-help book sceptic. I have never picked one up before, probably turned by nose up at them even, until now. When I saw Tandem were offering a read along for this book I decided to sign up. I always set my alarm for an hour earlier than I need to get up because I hate rushing around and like being able to relax in the morning. But this past year I have found myself spending that first hour glued to my phone and social media and I really didn’t like that. So when I saw that the idea behind this book is to use the first hour of your day to make more of your life, I thought it was worth a try.
And let me tell you, I have learnt so much from this book. You can probably tell that by all the tabs in the second photo! I tabbed the hell out of this book!
At it’s core, it’s a book about using that first hour of your day to craft the life you want for yourself. So whether you use that first hour to do a course, go for a run, read a book or even to just have an hour to yourself, it doesn’t matter. But the book is also about so much more than that. The topics on habits and movement really hit home with me and I have started to re-evaluate some parts of my life. Hell I even went for a run before 7am on cold January Friday, WHO AM I??
The main thing I took from this book is that I can do the things I want to. Really the only thing holding me back was me. I mean if I can wake up and get out of bed at 6:30 on a cold and dark January morning, then I can do anything. I’m really hoping I can take what I’ve learnt from this book and use it. And I might even start pushing myself to get out of bed earlier than 6:30!
Would really recommend this book. Even if you aren’t a morning person and don’t want to do an actual Power Hour, there is so much you can take from this book. Whether it be the chapter about habits, or movement or mindset, everyone can learn something from this book.
