Did not finish book. Stopped at 45%.

1. I missed the fact that this was magical realism
2. the magic in this book, while a cool concept, was the stupidest thing I've ever read. the execution of this magic turned me off immediately.
I can not speak directly on the full realization of the magic system as I clearly NOPED out the second I figured out what was going on. but after watching some spoiler filled videos I clearly made the correct decision.
I was not about to suffer through a book I was not enjoying- I did not like the characters (way to many of them, and none were interesting), I did not like the mystery, I did not like how heavy handed exposition was incorporated. and after I looked up the plot of the book I was not interested in anything concerning the stupid decision that had to have been made in order for the plot to happen.
overall really cool concept. needed some limitations on the magic system, and more engaging characters for my personal taste.
