A fun, action packed adventure much in the vein of The Princess Bride, this book was a lovely little snack that I couldn't put down! This was a fairy tale written for adults, and not in a bad way. I've only read the Mistborn series by Sanderson and his writing is much different in this book - quirky, fast paced, bordering silly, but still meaningful. At no point could I anticipate what was coming next and I was captivated from chapter to chapter with the next part of Tress' journey across the spore seas.
I absolutely live for the trope of a simple girl finding her voice, her power, and her meaning, and this book was a front row seat to all the whimsy, delight, and trepidation that Tress felt every step along the way.
This book truly had it all - a love story, pirates sailing the open seas, battles between good and evil, wit, charm, and so much more. There are so many audiences who would enjoy this book, but if you want to immerse yourself in a different world to turn your brain off, I couldn't recommend it more!
