Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers
1.0

I thought “Honey Girl” would be unique, but it didn’t live up to its hype. It used the same storyline we see so many romance books.

The: “No matter how hard I work, my parents will never be satisfied, so I’ll go date the forbidden fruit and have a weekend whirlwind romance before I go back to my regular life, but secretly hope the below-my-parents’-standards lover comes fight for our 10 minute relationship” storyline.

This is the most reused storyline in romance books and movies. I’m so disappointed because I was expecting something different.

Also, the friendships and relationships were so forced, it makes me feel the story was just kind of thrown together. I didn’t feel their described love for one another. It just seems like they all randomly ended up in the same place and just claimed each other as friends, parent and child, etc.

No history, no affection, no chemistry, no treasured moments, nothing. No one seemed to take anyone seriously. They were all just…there…
