A Passage North
by Anuk Arudpragasam
This book was shortlisted for the 2021 International Booker Prize, so I had a reasonable amount of hope it would be good. Instead I found it too meanderingly and unnecessarily long-winded, with protracted descriptions of things that felt extraneous to the story, or like an insertion of an essay. I should have cut my losses earlier on, but in the hopes of it getting better, I kept listening.
Two stars because I liked the setting (Sri Lanka and India) and there were bits and pieces I learned about Sri Lankan history.
