This is honestly probably one of my favorite young adult fantasy books I have read in the last couple years. The story is original, and the details superb. The intricacy and interweaving of those details had me reeling and wanting more by the end. The author's style of writing captivated me and pulled me in, head over heels. I fell in love with Karou and Akiva, and can not wait to see what happens. What I probably enjoyed the most, is that it didn't read like a typical young adult novel. Most are very simple, with predictable situations. Karou is aged beyond her years and it shines through in her character and the story.
