God Emperor of Dune
by Frank Herbert
Unreal. It’s a fever dream. Possibly the greatest literary work in human history. No other book has created such an intense reaction for me. Shock, disbelief, intrigue. I was asked if I loved this book because I saw myself as Leto Atreides II. I immediately doubted myself and thought “AM I LIKE THIS WORM?” But then I realized no of course not. I am nothing like him. But Frank Herbert made second guess that and tricked me into empathizing with a 3500 year old worm emperor. That is the great accomplishment of this book.
