How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie
2.5
dark funny mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

That book was really hard to get through for multiple reasons. First off the chapters were very long and sometimes the main character would ramble on and on about something, then something else. That paired up with the many names of characters thrown at us made it hard to keep up with what was happening and who we were talking about.
I also found the chronology a bit hard to follow. Sometimes it was hard to picture when events were taking place
especially the passage with Caro which happened after the murders of the daughter and the mother yet was told before.

By the second half of the book I started getting interested a bit more and wanting to see how it would play out but the ending absolutely ruined it for me.

I’m not going to say Grace deserved to get away with it, she wasn’t always an enjoyable character and her slaughter isn’t something you can necessarily praise. But making a random half-brother appear out of nowhere and just ruin all her plans that just ruined the story for me. An ending where we would have seen Grace moved on from revenge and maybe enjoy life with Jimmy would have offered some development for her. Instead of just making Harry McRandom appear.

Nice book overall, terrible ending for me personally.
