Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn

3.0

Kate Clayborn's novel Georgie, All Along revolves around the life of Georgie Mulcahy, a personal assistant who has spent most of her life prioritizing the needs of others over her own. After leaving her hectic job in Los Angeles and returning to her hometown, Georgie realizes that she has never really known what she wants or needs in life.

I found Georgie's character relatable, as I have also struggled with discovering what I want out of life. This book portrays the message that life can be challenging, and sometimes, we make ourselves small just to cope with it. However, it also highlights that we can always grow and evolve.

Levi, the male lead, has a troubled past, yet he is a warm and gentle soul beneath his quiet and distant exterior. I loved his character, and it's refreshing to see a romantic lead who is not an alpha male. Sarah Hogle's Twice Shy is another book that portrays such a character.

The best part about the book is that there is no third-act breakup, which is a common trope in romance novels. The story feels more than just a romance novel, making you think about life. The chemistry between Georgie and Levi is heartwarming, and I'm satisfied with the ending. I'm going to miss these characters.
