This was my first read from this author and it didn’t disappoint.
I really enjoyed the unique take on single dad in this story. He doesn’t find out he has a baby but a tween! Talk about a spin on the classic trope. I absolutely loved watching their relationship grow and blossom.
Another great trope is little sister’s best friend. Brynne has always been a part of the family but just as the annoying best friend. Until she isn’t that anymore. I really enjoyed these two building the tension and being honest and dealt with one another.
The little bit of suspense throughout was okay for me. I don’t feel it was necessary to the story and I could have gone without or it needed to be built up more.
My only other critique is that it was a bit long for me. I felt like there were 70-100 pages over what was necessary to still deliver a great story.
Overall I enjoyed this and look forward to more books from this author in the future.
