3 stars because it's not a bad book but also it wasn't for me at all.
I feel like I should have loved it and yet everytime I picked it up I couldn't wait to put it down. I think it had something to do with the writing style, the constant switching of the POV between actions and chapters that got me extremely confused at times. The story is all over the place at times, something that has little more than "vibes" going on. The POV is constantly switching yet because, or in spite of it I couldn't tell you ANYTHING about any of the main characters (except their main trait of course). We got a trans girl who plays violin, a rich violin teacher who made a pact with the devil and an alien mom (there's also a 4th character coming halfway through the book, and for the love of me I couldn't te you what her purpose in the story was supposed to be), they don't really get any more characterization than those base traits. I finished the book and I had still difficulty picturing these guys! In all their interactions they constantly feel like bad actors reading a script and I'm vastly attributing that to the writing style.
That said, it's not a bad book, it just wasn't for me, I'm sure the right audience who will be able to apreaciate this innovative writing style will be able to properly enjoy it.
