🚨SPOILER ALERT🚨I have one question. WHERE IS LUO 😔?

Now for everything else.

1. This is an adult historical pirate fantasy.

2. The characters, they’re fantastic in fact, I know care more than I should about them and I’m concerned for their well being 😭. Also the characters you’re supposed to hate do EXACTLY that😀.

3.Secondly the PLOT! So well paced. Not too slow that you get bored and not to fast that you can’t keep up. It’s the perfect amount of engagement between the fast paced and slower paced themes in this book. The slower chapters have a way of making the characters feel like people and developing the relationships in the book. And it’s so fun and sometimes emotional to read about them and some of their own stories.

4. Also there was a plot-twist I predicted but i don’t care that I predicted it it was still exciting to find out what this plot twist is.

5. The FMC: I love how Shi-Yang grows as a character in terms of her magic and as a person. (Also side bar the magic is equally as interesting to learn about as the boon goes along and even that isn’t overwhelming nor does it feel like an indie dump all the worldbuilding and magic system is done organically, including with dialogue) I also absolutely adore how Shi-Yang’s relationships develop. (Hè is so sweet and adorable by the way)  She goes from being closed off an unable to trust anyone into basically becoming part of their family.

As dark as the book starts off there’s some parts that did make me smile or laugh a little bit. So I was upset when characters were getting separated or hurt 😭 but that’s the point! It’s such a well written story! I WILL be preordering the sequel! This was a great experience!
