Twelve Years a Slave
by Solomon Northup
This is a very important book portraying the treatment of slaves on plantation farms. It is a period in time that should not be forgotten or swept under the rug. He has presented the facts as they were without too much gory details but you feel the injustice and pain through his words. It is impossible to imagine someone going though this and still living on. There were millions who lived and died in slavery, torn apart from families, worked to the bone, and, beaten mercilessly everyday.
