I still couldn’t tell you why I picked up this book. The title, perhaps, caught my eye. But the novel itself never caught my attention. I am a woman who dedicates herself to finishing books, but god, was this a challenge to get through. None of the characters are likable. NONE. Not even the protagonist, who I believe the author took zero time to develop in any capacity. I am not a romance reader, so this could very well contribute to my distaste for this book, but what really solidified my dislike was the writing. The writing is something that a high schooler could have submitted for a creative writing elective final and gotten a C on. Nothing to write home about. I was disappointed, too, with the scarcity of serial killer references, as an avid true crime fan myself! Overall, this was the cheesiest, most painful thing I’ve ever read, and I only finished it, truthfully, to be able to provide an educated opinion on it.
