We Are All Completely Fine
by Daryl Gregory
I hate saying this -- because Daryl Gregory is most assuredly his own person, with his own unique voice and style -- but after having read two of his works now (this one and his latest, Spoonbenders, which I gave 5 stars) I am confident that Gregory is the new Stephen King... He writes bizarre and sometimes horrific tales, drenched in thorough storytelling, descriptive world building, and witty, likable characters. So, if you're sick of King's recent rehashing of similar ideas, but still thirst for otherworldly storytelling and situations that keep you in uneasy suspense, then look into Gregory's fiction. He's definitely one of my new favorites.
