Oh, how I wanted to love this book. I enjoyed the characters, the story material, the primary theme (do you want to be a woman who does things, or has things done to them?). I loved all this.
But I didn't love the book. Maybe it moved too slowly for me (I skimmed the last 200 pages and didn't miss a thing).
If you LOVE Kate Morton, you will love this book. Without a doubt. Whenever I read Kate Morton, I breeze through it and enjoyed the experience, but forget what I read 10 minutes later. This book is trying to be Kate Morton... but just doesn't Kate Morton as well as she does.
GREAT beach read, though. That much said, it's March in Virginia and we have snow. I need something with a little more oomph, I guess!
