2.5

I honestly am teetering on 2.5 stars for this one but I’m giving it a three because the sex scenes were a little spicy enough to grab my attention but this reads like a telenovela or a soap opera in itself. I came for the Latinx representation (although it isn’t my own Latin identity - I’m Brazilian - I still wanted to give this a fair shot) but it left me puzzled.
Why would two people who are more than familiar with how the acting world works have poor communication between each other in addition to acting as if they were noobies when shit hit the fan? If you have been in the acting business long enough - paparazzi, tabloids... all of that is a small part of making it in show biz. Not to mention Angel (Ashton) is almost forty and his behavior seemed more fitting for a character in his twenties. Maybe if they both were younger - I would have believed this a little more. I also was hoping the instalove / lust wouldn’t show up - maybe with characters in their thirties there would be more authentic build up / trust but no. It felt back to the same old lines I feel like I’ve read before and same old we know each other so well - how? You’ve only been working together for what — a month / month and a half ? Plus - as much as I liked the show not tell - it almost came across as forced and I excesses every time I read about someone’s skin complexion. I understand the need to bring people to life but there is nothing about a women washing her hands that I desperately need to know she is a woman of color. The editor should have helped out more in making this feel less try hard.
